Fluent by Choice is made by Seneris, a two-person studio in Maastricht. We built it to teach languages, not to harvest data. This page explains what that means in practice.
What we collect
You can read the first story without an account. When you use the app we process only what is needed to make it work:
- Your reading progress and vocabulary— which passages you've read, the choices you made, and the words you've saved. By default this stays on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, Apple stores it in your own iCloud account, not on our servers.
- Purchase records — if you buy a story or subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple. We receive a receipt confirming the purchase, never your card details.
- Diagnostics — if the app crashes, anonymised crash reports help us fix it. You can turn this off in iOS Settings.
What we don't collect
No advertising identifiers. No third-party trackers. No selling or sharing of personal data. We don't ask for your contacts, location, microphone, or photos.
This website
The site you're reading loads fonts from Google Fonts and Fontshare; those providers may see your IP address as part of serving the font files. We don't run analytics or set advertising cookies here.
Your rights
Because we're based in the Netherlands, the GDPR applies. You can ask us what data we hold about you, request a copy, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to processing. Since most data lives on your device, deleting the app removes it. For anything held by us, write to hallo@seneris.nland we'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Fluent by Choice is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
